There you are, a happy family at a restaurant eating and then your toddler starts crying. You’re sitting there hoping this will end. The hairs on the back of your neck are standing, beads of sweat are dripping and you feel ashamed. Dirty looks all around the restaurant are being shot in your direction and you feel like you want to get up and run out the door.
All you wanted was a happy family outing and you couldn’t even have that. Now you’re sitting there trying to calm this crying baby. This baby who can be crying for a number of reasons. Perhaps he is teething or didn’t sleep well at night. You’re trying to hum to him, rock him, but nothing seems to be working.
Firstly, it’s very important to not beat yourself up over these things. These are just a part of life and everyone has been there. You don’t need to feel any shame. Yet, if you want to spare this moment of uncomfort, you can prepare yourself with a few easy tips. Here is what I suggest and it works like a charm.
Firstly, always bring some baby snacks. They’ll work like a charm for the baby. Sometimes a baby is just very hungry and it needs food now. You should always have a little something for him to keep him preoccupied. The baby can just be bored and uncomfortable by his surroundings as well. In this case you should always bring some small baby toys. They work as a charming distraction for the baby. Keep him under wraps.
There are also more personal touches you can apply as a parent. You know your baby like no one else. Your baby is unique and can be calmed via unique methods. Apply these when you must and you’ll live much more comfortably.
