Parents should take note of the amount of snacks that their little ones consume in a day and try to limit them in a way which does not hamper their appetite. Another way to decrease children’s aversion from meals is by giving them more exposure to different varieties of foods. Mealtime shouldn’t always have to be a chore for them where they’re constantly forced to eat something. Instead, parents should devise fun and engaging activities that give their kids more confidence to experience flavors and textures of different foods. After all, most children are fussy about meals because most of the foods on their plate are very new to them and they need time to develop the habit of enjoying them.
Parents can also trick their children into eating their vegetables by mixing them up with their favorite foods. For example, if your kid likes pizza, don’t be scared to throw in a few vegetables with the rest of the toppings and they won’t even know that they’re eating a healthy pizza! Try to involve your children in the meal preparing process by recruiting their help in grocery shopping or rinsing the vegetables. This process engages them into smelling and feeling their food and watch it being cooked which instills a certain enthusiasm and curiosity in them to eat it as well.
